Although not an official Council or Order-wide program, the Council does participate in providing one or more families in need with a memorable Christmas. In 2016, the Knights provided a large family of 12, who were often overlooked, with over $2,000 of gifts and food coupons so that they could have Christmas.
Food for Families
Throughout the year many families and individuals in our community are subjected to food insecurity, a condition partially met by local food banks. While the need exists throughout the year, it becomes most acute during the summer months, especially with children. The Council actively participates in this important Order-wide Program to raise funds and collect food stuffs on behalf of the Community Assistance Center Food Bank. Our Knights volunteer to work in the Food Bank where they receive and sort food supplies, stock shelves, and assist clients in meeting their family needs. In May and June, Knights help prepare and pack lunches for children who qualify for free or subsidized meals during the school year but do not receive that assistance during Summer months. The Council collaborates with other parish missions to carry out this activity with greater impact.
