State’s First 4D Ultrasound Machine in Roswell Pregnancy Aid Clinic

The Roswell branch of Pregnancy Aid Clinic (PAC) today flipped the switch on the first 4-D ultrasound machine to be placed in a private clinic in the State of Georgia. The new 4D ultrasound was funded by the St. Jude the Apostle Knights of Columbus Council 16513.

The Sandy Springs-based Knights group raised the money, coordinated with national, state and local K of C officials, and purchased the machine under the direction of PAC CEO Marla Brown. PAC is the state’s largest and most successful Catholic non-profit center that provides free services to make it possible for mothers and families to choose life.

The 4D machine is a significant improvement over ultrasound machines currently in use at Georgia pregnancy counseling centers. Not only does it show the unborn child in three dimensions, but in full-color. This enables the clinic to better monitor the health of babies in utero and allows mothers to visually experience their development. Unaudited nationwide studies show that ninety-two percent of pregnant women that see a 4D picture of their child bring their babies to full term.

“Ultrasound exams are medically indicated throughout pregnancy, but ultrasound machines can cost tens of thousands of dollars,” said Ms. Brown. “Thanks to the generosity of the Saint Jude Knights Council, our Roswell clinic now has advanced technology with the potential to save hundreds of lives annually.”

The ultrasound machine donation is part of the Knights of Columbus Ultrasound Initiative. Through active fundraising and a generous anonymous donation, Council 16513 raised half of the purchase cost, and the Knights Supreme Council provided matching funds. State officials who played a crucial role in obtaining the machine include Paul Zock of Dalton, GA, an ultrasound expert, and Mark Corrigan, the Georgia State Deputy who serves as the national organization’s CEO in the state.

“This is a big step forward in our fight to defend the sanctity of life,” said John Jedlicka, the Grand Knight of Council 16513. “I salute my fellow Council members, our anonymous donor and all the men and women who made this dream come true.”

A group of Saint Jude Knights led by the church’s Pastor and council Chaplain, the Rev. Msgr. W. Joseph Corbett, officials from the State Council of the Knights of Columbus and staff members from the Pregnancy Aid Clinic dedicated the new machine at a formal ceremony on April 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
